New Health policy on the cards

Kathmandu, Nov. 27: Lack of skilled human resources in the health sector is regarded as one of the major problems for the lack of effective and timely.

The Ministry of Health and Population stated that country's health sector was facing problems mainly due to insufficient human resources as nearly 11,000 technical human resource including doctors, health assistants, nurses, lab technicians and others were lacking.

The Ministry has been preparing to recruit the staff by taking permission from the Public Service Commission (PSC) to end the crisis faced by human resource crunch.

At an annual evaluation programme of the fiscal year 2012/ 2013 organized here today, Chief of the Management Division under the Department of Health Service Dr Saroj Prasad Rajendra urged Ministry to be more serious to meet the basic demand for human resource to deliver health services.

During the programme, Minister for Health and Population Rajendra Mahato said that the government is mulling to unveil a new health policy and expressed hope that it would address the present challenges appeared in the health sector.

Minister Mahato claimed that the Ministry was working to meet the demand for human power shortage and urged the officials concerned to make the health services more qualitative.

Secretary at the Ministry Dr Pravin Mishra stressed the need of paying necessary attention to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). RSS
